Operations Manager @ Tyson Law Firm
About the Firm
The Tyson Law Firm is a growing, multi-practice law firm representing clients in personal injury, criminal defense, and family law matters throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
We are entering an important stage of growth and are looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to strengthen our systems, improve accountability, and help translate the firm owner’s vision into consistent execution.
The Role
The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day business operations of the firm. This is not a legal position, and you will not be expected to practice law. Your responsibility will be to help run the business side of the firm so that attorneys, case managers, intake personnel, and administrative staff can perform effectively.
You will report directly to the firm owner and work closely with existing administrative, intake, legal, and marketing personnel. You will have meaningful authority to make and implement operational decisions within established guidelines, with a clear opportunity to advance into a Director of Operations position based on performance and firm growth.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can build systems, enforce accountability, solve problems, and ensure that decisions turn into completed work.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish, monitor, and enforce key performance indicators for case managers, intake personnel, and other support staff.
- Create clear reporting systems that allow leadership to quickly identify missed deadlines, performance issues, revenue opportunities, and operational bottlenecks.
- Run the firm’s weekly operational meetings, reporting cadence, and follow-up process.
- Ensure that assigned tasks and leadership decisions are completed on time.
- Develop and implement a tiered monetary decision-authority framework so routine purchasing and operational decisions do not unnecessarily require owner approval.
- Work with the firm’s marketing team to evaluate lead volume, cost per lead, conversion rates, signed cases, and return on marketing investment.
- Make recommendations regarding marketing budgets and channels and oversee implementation of approved decisions.
- Improve intake, lead follow-up, client onboarding, case-management, and administrative workflows.
- Lead or oversee the recruitment, onboarding, training, supervision, and performance management of non-attorney personnel.
- Clarify roles, responsibilities, performance expectations, and accountability across the firm.
- Translate the owner’s growth objectives into measurable quarterly priorities and operational milestones.
- Coordinate cross-department projects and ensure that attorneys and staff have the administrative support required to move cases efficiently.
- Evaluate potential new practice areas, business lines, office locations, and acquisition opportunities and assist with implementation when appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary expenses without compromising client service or firm performance.
What We’re Looking For
We are not primarily screening for law-firm pedigree. We are looking for someone who has successfully helped run a business, managed people, built systems, enforced standards, and accepted responsibility for measurable results.
The strongest candidates will demonstrate sound judgment, personal accountability, direct communication, and the ability to bring structure to an organization that is growing quickly.
Required Qualifications
- Meaningful experience in an operations leadership position, such as Operations Manager, General Manager, Business Manager, Director of Operations, or a comparable role
- Experience supervising multiple employees and holding team members accountable for measurable performance
- Demonstrated ability to create or manage KPIs, scorecards, reporting systems, workflows, and recurring management meetings
- Experience improving business processes and ensuring that new procedures are consistently followed
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze operational and financial information and turn it into practical decisions
- Comfortable making day-to-day decisions within established authority rather than merely identifying problems for someone else to solve
- Highly organized, responsive, and capable of managing several priorities at once
Preferred but Not Required
- Experience in a law firm, professional-services firm, healthcare practice, financial-services business, or another high-volume client-service organization
- Familiarity with Clio or another legal or client-management platform
- Experience with intake operations, lead conversion, marketing analytics, or multi-location operations
- Experience helping a growing business formalize its management systems
Compensation and Structure
- Full-time, primarily on-site position in Dallas, Texas
- Reports directly to the firm owner
- Base salary of $60,000–$80,000, depending on relevant experience and demonstrated ability
- Quarterly performance-based bonus opportunity tied to a written scorecard that may include operational milestones, staff accountability, implementation of cost-reduction initiatives, intake and case-volume performance, and firm revenue growth
- Bonus eligibility begins with the initial 90-day performance period; bonuses are earned based on measurable results and are not guaranteed
- Clear opportunity for advancement to Director of Operations based on sustained performance, increased responsibility, and firm growth
First 90 Days: What Success Looks Like
During the first 90 days, the Operations Manager will be expected to:
- Implement a functioning KPI and accountability framework for case managers, intake personnel, and support staff
- Establish a reliable weekly operational meeting and reporting cadence
- Finalize and implement monetary decision-authority thresholds
- Evaluate the firm’s current marketing spending and performance and ensure that approved channel and budget decisions are being executed
- Identify the firm’s most significant operational bottlenecks and present a prioritized improvement plan
- Establish clear ownership and follow-up procedures for major recurring responsibilities
These objectives will form the foundation of the first quarterly bonus scorecard and the 90-day evaluation of performance and mutual fit.
